Keeping our people active, independent, and doing what they love
Ran-Fit is our ACC-accredited, in-house exercise programme, designed to improve strength, balance and flexibility. Classes run in every Promisia home, with sitting and standing options so residents work at their own pace.
Regular strength and balance assessments help residents track their progress.
About the Ran-Fit programme
Born at Ranfurly Manor
Ran-Fit began at Ranfurly Manor in Feilding, hence the name. Classes incorporate a wide range of strength and balance related exercises and are suitable for all abilities. There are a limited number of spaces available in some classes so members of the local community can join in at no cost.
ACC-accredited in Feilding, Christchurch and Cromwell
All our homes and villages offer Ran-Fit and we've had some fabulous feedback from assessors who have commented on "the variety of exercises, how easily it adapts to every fitness level, the warmth of the instructors, and the social connection it brings".
What movement gives back
“I was struggling to get in and out of my chair and bed. I recently joined Ran-fit, and it changed my life. They showed me the nose to toes technique, and I have now regained some of my independence. When I see people struggling to stand, I go over and teach them the technique myself.”
“When I first came to Aldwins House, I could hardly stand on my own two feet. I started doing Ran-fit, and now I am much more independent. I can walk to the mall, catch the bus, and it has given me back my freedom of choice.”
“I suffered a stroke that affected my balance. I joined Ran-fit, and I am gradually regaining my balance. I am now walking with a low walking frame and walking more independently. This has given me greater independence and a better quality of life.”
