Living options at Ranfurly Manor
Independent living villas
Our modern, warm and attractive independent living villas are the perfect option for those looking to downsize or to embrace retirement living with the advantages of care close by.
One or two bedroom options are available. Villas are approximately 100m² and contain a spacious kitchen, dining and living area, bathroom, inbuilt garage and landscaped garden area. Floor coverings, curtains, dishwashers and stoves are included in the purchase price.
Villas contain a call bell connected to the Ranfurly Manor care home for added safety and security. Meals can also be provided by the care home at an additional cost.
Villas are surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, providing a serene setting for you to sit and reflect, or to chat with friends and loved ones. The Ranfurly Manor activities and events programme is open to villa residents, giving you the freedom to be as involved as you would like.
Prices range from $360,000 to $485,000.
Care suites
Our care suites allow you to live your life in your own way, within a safe and friendly community. Our care suites have one or two double bedrooms with a private lounge, en-suite, and kitchenette.
You can live independently, or with flexible support packages providing up to Hospital and Palliative level care - ensuring you won’t need to move again if your care needs evolve.
Care suites are joined to shared household living, dining, and outdoor areas, which can be enjoyed on your own or in the company of other residents.
Prices range from $165,000 to $195,000 for a one bedroom suite and $275,000 to $285,000 for a two bedroom suite.
Care suite residents enter into an Occupation Right Agreement (ORA), whereby you purchase the rights to live in that apartment.
A monthly maintenance fee includes lawnmowing, gardening, and any maintenance work. Rates and Building Insurance are paid by Ranfurly Manor.
Care bedrooms
Our care bedrooms will ensure your comfort and privacy. All levels of care can be provided - meaning you won’t need to move again if your care needs evolve.
Care bedrooms are joined to shared household living, dining, and outdoor areas, which can be enjoyed on your own or in the company of other residents.
Premium rooms come with an additional daily charge to cover extra features. This top-up is additional to the Care Services Fee set by Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora.
Darren McKean
Facility Manager
Darren leads Ranfurly Manor with energy, compassion, and purpose. His diverse background - including nine years with the Department of Corrections - gives him a broad perspective and strong people skills. In 2007, he took a year off to support his wife’s nursing studies and discovered his own calling in aged care. He went on to qualify as a registered nurse and since then, he’s gained extensive clinical and leadership experience, and he has been successfully managing Ranfurly Manor for nearly a decade.
Darren is passionate about aged care and is known for his positivity, hands-on approach, and genuine care for residents, families, and staff. Outside work, he enjoys time out with his children, hunting, and working on anything with an engine.
